Johnathan Pope (Chief Executive Officer) – Johnathan Pope started his position as CEO of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana in May 2019 but has long been a part of the Y movement. He previously served as District Executive Director/Chief Crisis Officer of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan. Over the past 14 years, he has served in a variety of leadership roles within both the Greater Grand Rapids YMCA and the YMCA of Saginaw, Michigan.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Business Management from Saginaw Valley State University. Johnathan is a native of Daytona Beach, Florida. He and his wife of 15 years have two daughters.

Jennifer Brown (Chief Operating Officer) – Jennifer Brown started her YMCA career at the Vincennes YMCA in 1995 as a Program Director, Having graduated in accounting at Purdue University, she was hired by the YMCA of Southwestern IN, as Assistant Controller and eventually became the CFO and now is the Y’s COO.

Jennifer is the treasurer for the Public Education Foundation. She volunteers for her children’s sport teams and recreation clubs like Evansville Soccer Club and 4H Horse and Pony Club. As a former collegiate swimmer, she has taken on the position as the North High School Swim Coach.

Samantha Scott (Chief Financial Officer) –“Sam” joined our YMCA in October 2019, after having served as Controller at the University of Evansville, subsequent to being a not-for-profit auditor at Kemper CPA Group, LLP.  Sam is a native of Evansville, a graduate of Bosse High School and of the University of Southern Indiana and a Certified Public Accountant.

She has been a long time participant of our YMCA’s various programs, from childhood swimming lessons, attending safety patrol camp at Camp Carson, to participating in Team 13 and the Evansville Half Marathons as an adult.  She has served on various small not for profit boards around Evansville, and continues to work with some of the installed volunteer treasurers with tax and accounting issues that come up as needed.

Tricia Blazier (Human Resource Director) –  Tricia has been with the YMCA since 1995 and started her Y career as the Assistant Controller and is currently the Human Resource Director. She handles payroll, employee benefits, staff training and all issues relating to employment with the Y. She volunteers for her children’s athletic teams and schools and is a member of the Evansville Human Resource Association.

Lisa Verkamp (Marketing & Annual Campaign Director) – Lisa started with the YMCA in 2013.  She previously worked at AXIOM Advertising & Marketing as a lead executive on the YMCA account, managing the media relations and media planning for its public-facing advertising campaigns.  As a Y member, she participated in I Am Second classes and volunteered at various Y events prior to starting as a full-time employee at the Y.  Now, she manages all communications and brand compliance for the Y as well as the financial development and communication plan for the Annual Campaign.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in both Advertising and Marketing as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana.

Gina Moore (Administrative Assistant) – Gina Noreen Moore has been with the Y since. Gina is a Graduate of Central High School and Ivy Tech State College. Gina is the Administrative Assistant for the Y. When Gina is not working at the Y, she can be seen around the tri-state singer with her sister Joan Moore-Mobley and with the Sounds of Grace Choir. Gina and her sister have been singing together since 1986 and are known as The Browne Sisters.

Meghan Craven (Health Initiatives Director) – Meghan started with the YMCA in 2018 as a group exercise instructor. She started her full time position in 2019. She currently works in the planning and execution of special events such as the YMCA races, the Annual Pancake Days and assisting with fundraising efforts. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Ball State University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana.

Grant Brown (Director of Christian Mission) – Grant joined the Y from Resurgence Church where he currently serves as Lead Pastor.  He previously served in our Community Outreach branch as Y-CAP Coordinator. His passion and commitment to serve all, especially youth, continues to show through the support he lends in keeping everyone spiritually feed.

Tara Carney (Accounting Director) – Tara comes to us from Eldorado, Illinois, where she has spent many years as a high school teacher of Accounting & Business Systems, prior to which she worked at an accounting office out of Harrisburg, Illinois. She and her family relocated to the area and are looking forward to finding their fit in our community.

Angie McAtee (Staff Accountant) – Angie has been with the YMCA since 2001. She works in the business office and is responsible for accounts payable.

Amy Epley (Accounts Receivable Specialist) – Amy comes from the Childcare branch as a Child Care coordinator for the last 4 years. She is now part of the Business office serving as liaison to families.

 

Ascension St. Vincent YMCA

Krista Flewallen (Membership Director) – Krista over-sees the Ascension St. Vincent front desk staff and managing the day-to-day operations of the membership services department.

Heather Polley (Aquatics Director) – She currently works in Aquatics, planning and implementing water safety, lifeguard training, and aquatics programming.

Nicole Gordon (Aquatics Coordinator) – Nicole worked in aquatics quite some time ago before moving to Tennessee. Upon returning to Evansville with her daughter Cady, she rejoined our YMCA team. She comes to us with a wealth of pool knowledge as she ran her own pool business.

Christen Mitchell  (Senior Wellness Director) – Christen has been with the Y since January 2012.  Prior to joining the Y, she has worked in the fitness industry since 1997.  Her time is split between the Ascension St. Vincent and Dunigan Branches overseeing the health and well-being programs for both branches.

 

YMCA Camp Carson

Jim Sexstone (Branch Executive Director) – Jim is excited to serve at YMCA Camp Carson because of its rich traditions and the impact a great camp can make. Jim has worked for the Y for many years and attributes the time he spent going to Y summer camps as having a major impact on who he is today. Jim has a Master’s in Recreation and Park Administration as well as two undergraduate degrees in business.

 

YMCA Community Outreach

Sean Kuykendall (Branch Executive Director) –  Sean is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the YMCA staff in January of 2012 after serving on the Board of Directors for 15 years.  He completed his undergraduate work at Ball State University and graduate work at the University of Iowa.  He has served in various leadership roles in the community including past President of Prevent Child Abuse, Vanderburgh Co., Youth Resources Board of Directors, and Boy Scouts of America.  His primary responsibility is to respond to community needs through relationships and character development programs which foster the core values of the YMCA, Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.

Julie Brunner-Davis (Caldwell Community Center Director) – Before joining the YMCA, Julie worked for the EVSC in the Special Education Department as well as Kindergarten. Julie’s prior career experience also includes work for the Boys and Girls Club of Evansville. She has always lived in Evansville and is proud to call this city home.

Colten Pipenger (21st Century Director) – Colten was formally with the Membership Department and recently graduated with his Masters in Business Administration form the University of Southern Indiana.  He also holds a Bachelor degree in Sports Management.  He comes to us from EVSC where he held the role of Site Coordinator within their 21st Century program at Cedar Hall School.

Matt Mills (After School Coordinator) – Matt previously worked as the Membership Coordinator for the Ascension St Vincent YMCA before joining the Outreach team in 2020. He now oversees various After School programs for the Community Outreach branch.

Daniel Creech (Learning Recovery Grant Coordinator) – Daniel is a recent Indiana University graduate with a background in International Studies and French. He will be working specifically with our College and Career Readiness programs and Summer Level Up programs, with various other responsibilities. 

Thaddaus Summers  (After School Coordinator-YCAP) – Thaddaus served as a manager for 10 years at Gattitown and 2 years at Dollar General. He is very passionate about investing in youth and being a positive role model.

Dunigan Family YMCA

Crystal Paroyan (Branch Executive Director) – Crystal has worked for the YMCA since 1989. She currently oversees all operations of the Dunigan Family branch and has previously served as the branch director at the Ascension St Vincent YMCA as well as in membership and marketing.

Tim Alcorn (Senior Sports Program Director)  – Tim joins the Y having previously taught at Mt Vernon High School. He has experience in coaching wrestling, softball, and football. In his spare time, Tim enjoys golf and watching his kids, Braxden and Emerson, play sports.

Christen Mitchell  (Senior Wellness Director) – Christen has been with the Y since January 2012.  Prior to joining the Y, she has worked in the fitness industry since 1997.  Her time is split between the Ascension St. Vincent and Dunigan Branches overseeing the health and well-being programs for both branches.

Laurie Spencer (Membership Director) – Laurie worked in a part-time capacity for the YMCA since the opening of the Dunigan Branch in 2005. She accepted a full-time position in 2015, in which she is responsible for the supervision and training of the frontline membership staff. Laurie has a passion for the Lord and for serving others, which lends itself with the mission of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana.

Rick King (Facilities Director) – 

Holly Piittmann (Aquatics Director) – Holly brings with her extensive aquatic experience. She is currently an LGI and will have her YMCA Swim Lesson Certification.

 

YMCA Childcare Services Branch

Kelly Boylls (Branch Director) – Kelly has worked for the YMCA since 1987 and began working part-time as a swim coach, lifeguard and swim instructor.   After graduating from the University of Southern Indiana, Kelly joined the full time staff in 1992 as the Aquatics Director. She now oversees summer day camp, before and after school child care and specialty camps. The programs are delivered at over 20 sites in the Evansville area.

Kathryn Johnson (Child Care Coordinator) – Kathryn has worked for the YMCA since 2008 and began working part time in the After School Program. In 2015 Kathryn joined the full time staff as a Child Care Coordinator and currently oversees Before and After School and Summer Day Camp Programs.

Dana Rust (Child Care Coordinator) – Dana started at the YMCA as a Before & After School counselor in 2013. She has also served in our Summer Day Camp program as both a Counselor and Site Director. She is now a full-time Child Care Coordinator in the Childcare Services Branch overseeing multiple Before & After School sites as well as multiple Summer Day Camp sites. She recently graduated with an Elementary Education teaching degree.

Emily Atchley (Child Care Coordinator) – Emily started with the YMCA as a Summer Day Camp site director and moved up to full time Child Care Coordinator in the Childcare Services Branch. 

Kaitlyn Schrank (Child Care Coordinator) – Kaitlyn has a degree in Elementary Education and comes to us with a strong background in academic enrichment and STEM education.

Audrey Wilson (REACH Grant Director) – Audrey comes to us with a degree in Secondary Education with an English concentration and a strong STEM background. We are excited to have her expertise at both Oakdale Elementary and Princeton Intermediate School overseeing our REACH Grant.Â
